19.8.13

judging by my head ache
there is a change in weather and season on its way
it´s soon the time of year where i´ll start having a cup of tea to go with my aspirin
i´m like an old lady and feel it also in my bones - something creeping up may hip and spine
.
but it´s still time to celebrate summer with an abundance of apricot things
tarts (crust made with sheep butter, spelt and buckwheat)
NINA´S and NICOLE´S apricot dumplings
(made mine with spelt flour and semolina and hazelnut with melted butter
the fruits were so big the dumplings had the size of the savory ones to go with a sunday roast)
.
the nurseries are selling their withered plants for cheap
got quite a bit for next year
also a baby´s breath variety called flamingo
i probably have to fertilize it with alga and plankton to keep its pink colour
.
found a couple of odd twig rings in the local Oxfam shop
i like weird jewellery
.
working on some exciting wintery things
something really new to me
found a nice work/life rythm lately
but things on my to do lists are piling up again
including finishing my study
which is going to be so clean and clear
i just can´t wait

my DOWN UNDER GUYS were featured in a Surfin´ Safari inspired post on the awesome blog GEMS
and next to them a plate by ALEX SICKLING i fell in love with
(also so amazing: PAPA BIRD PLATE and make sure to check out her TUMBLR)
so what´s even more awesome is that i was able to SWAP one of my WILD BUNCH GUYS for it
happy me
thank you so much, Alex - and Mallory for bringing us together!
.
should i get this DRESS?

8.8.13

my birch trees during a storm this sunday
road my bike as fast as i could to escape it
(after it ended a cute baby shower very abruptly)
.
and then the sky looked baby blue and pink again
.
since i´m wearing THOSE SHOES all summer long
my toes look quite pale
and yes, i put something called circus confetti on my nails
.
just recently i discoverd matcha powder
so far i´ve only put it into cakes
it goes very well with an olive oil one too
and all kinds of berries
and lots of flours
.
got up extra early and saved two hydrangeas who didn´t like their spot at all
now they´ve switched places
the pink one started to turn its leaves up instead of down
which is a good sign
made me happy
so i put on my marni shorts from h&m
(unfortunatly those sandals hurt so very much)
.
i told you i´m into yellow now
a TINY BOUQUET made of chocolate cosmos,
an old variety of yellow and brown cosmos and persian carpet zinnia
again in a vase by OTCHIPOTCHI
.
sent off some special FESTIVE PENDANTS to ZIERRAT UND GOLD
Nina is updating her shop very soon...

2.8.13

this heat seems to turn everything yellow
i´ve come to like this colour
.
but my first William Morris rose was peach coloured
.
last weekend we had a nice garden party
with quite a few cases of overeating (W and me being two of them)
so many nice people and so much good food
some of them traveled quite a bit to be here
(thank you so much JULIE and Rainer for coming
and trusting us with this lovely project)
somehow i´ve only managed to take a single picture
the one of the yellow vase filled with anemone japonica who doesn´t like to be cut
.
VASE CAPS with tiny garlic
.
my stack on UNRULY THINGS - thank you so much, Alyson
(i have to admit i never wear that many rings at once,
it´s not that practical when handling tools and such)
.
the nicest write up on MISS MOSS - thank you very much, Diana
.
have a wonderful sunny weekend

what i like about this summer so far:
(he had us waiting a loooong time)
.
having my sister visiting me for weeks
soon to be joined by an other one
.
adding apricots to almost every meal
especially savoury ones
.
basil blossoms
.
the smell of linden trees and Virginia creeper in full bloom
even more wonderful at night
.
a new stall at the farmers market:
a young couple selling their delicious sheep milk products
.
"my" flower lady at the same market
i´m such a good customer she actually misses me when i won´t show up for a week
it´s old variaties of tiny cushion pink carnations at this time of year
.
yet another new crazy coloured hydrangea
with brownish foliage
.
listening to W play the cornet at street festivals
singing his crazy version of Running Wild
his Dixiland Jazz band also plays Blueberry Hill "despite" its being a hit
to me such a hill would be the most perfect one
.
wearing:
DROP RINGS in silver and gold
TRIANGLE NECKLACE, a few black and white beads made of bone
and some vintage rhine stone jewellery
BURT´S BEES lip balm in Tiger Lily
a favorite new sweater
lost of white and blue dresses and shirts
.
an exciting new project including pink pepper corns
.
working on our little Summer collection
which will be ready by the end of the week
.
dried rose petals and bee pollen - like in HEIDI´S yoghurt bowl
(thank you for the reminder, ALMA)
.
Nigel Slater´s TENDER - both volumes - so wonderful
already made the gooseberry pie twice
adding a bit of buckwheat flour to the dough and using ghee instead of butter
which results in the most tender crumbly crust
NINA likes them too
.
a new stamp for my packaging
looks a bit childish, so i just ordered another more grown up one
.
a TINY BOUQUET made with the first tiny hydrangeas and succulent flowers
.
the first currants from the garden
.
what i don´t like:
mosquito pest
a brand new awfully itchy sun allergie
managed to kill some of my begonias by fertilizing them
.
so many wonderful lists everywhere:
Julie´s ZETTEL and ALBUM
TI´S June
ALMA´S wonderful selections - always
